Maut in Florida

Toll Pass Device/Service

For a per day price (plus toll fees), you can breeze through toll facilities. No more coin tosses. No more idling in line. You don't even have to open your window. Just drive thru and take the 'fast' lane.
Tolls are billed separately after vehicle return and may be billed by a 3rd party vendor.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What is the Alamo Toll Pass Program?
The Alamo Toll Pass program is our electronic toll collection program which makes road travel more convenient! The program eliminates the need for travelers to carry change or wait in long cash payment lines at toll plazas and allows Alamo renters to drive through electronic toll payment lanes. This program is offered in the Northeast United States (from Maine to Virginia), Texas, Colorado, Florida, and Chicago, IL. Instead of waiting in long toll lines, you can pay your toll electronically by driving through a designated toll lane.

How does Alamo's Toll Pass Program work?
  • Colorado, Florida, and Houston, TX
In these areas, the customer will drive through a designated toll based lane. When a renter utilizes these video based toll lanes, the toll system identifies the vehicle and the toll charges posted to the renter's credit card.
  • Northeast (Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts), Chicago, IL, and Dallas, TX
When customers select the toll pass program, a transponder is provided to the customer. When the customer arrives at a toll booth, he or she will drive through a designated transponder based lane and the toll charges are posted to the renter's credit card.
How do I use Alamo's Toll Pass program?
  • Colorado, Florida, and Houston, TX
Vehicles will be equipped with video tolling capability. When a National vehicle passes through a designated toll based lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle.
  • Northeast (Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts), Chicago
A transponder will be provided at time of rental that is placed in the windshield for the duration of your rental. Then simply drive through a designated transponder toll based lane and the toll fees will be charged to the credit card used at time of rental along with the daily transponder fee.
How much does Alamo's Toll Pass Program cost?
Customers will be charged the posted cash toll rate, plus a daily service fee of $2.50 per rental day, to a maximum of $10.00 per week.

What if I choose not to buy your Toll Pass service and then use a Toll Road?
If customers do not select the optional program, but need to use a Toll Road, they have two options: 1) pay for the toll themselves if possible, or 2) use the toll road anyway and generate a toll charge. National will receive the Unpaid Toll Notice from the toll road and process it as a toll violation, resulting in a charge to the customer of up to a $25.00 violation fee per toll occurrence, plus the cost of the tolls.

How do I get a receipt for toll charges applied to my credit card? How do I view my charges and Alamo toll activity online?

If you selected our Toll Pass service at the time of rental you can contact our toll pass provider, HTA, to obtain a copy of the receipt. They can contact them via the internet or by phone:
If you did not select our Toll Pass service and generated a toll Alamo will send you a letter indicating we made this charge. If you did not receive a letter but did receive a charge you should call 1-800-859-4140..

How do I pay for this?
Your credit card on file with the rental agreement will be charged. Toll charges will be applied after the rental car is returned.

Why I am being charged $2.50 per rental day for the Toll Pass service?
The $2.50 fee pays for the administration of the program.

How is the daily Toll Pass fee charged and calculated?
For each rental day the customer has the toll pass service on his or her rental. The $2.50 service fee is applied to each contracted rental day, up to $10.00 per rental week (4-7 days). The $2.50 per day is consistent throughout the rental, it does not matter how many times tolls are incurred, if at all.

Why should I be interested in Alamo's toll pass program where offered?
When you utilize Alamo's toll pass program you don't need to wait in long lines to pay cash so you can get where you are going faster.

How to I sign up for Alamo's Toll Pass program?
  • Colorado, Florida, and Houston, TX
Every rental car is setup in advance. No pre-enrollment or sign up is required. Simply select the toll pass service at time of rental.
  • Northeast (Maine to Virginia) Dallas, TX, and Chicago, IL
At time of rental, simply select the toll pass program and you will be provided with a toll transponder. Follow instructions on how to use the transponder when traveling thru the eligible areas.
